Diploma apostille for Romania.

Sending a Florida diploma to Romania — typically for citizenship by descent, employment — takes exactly one certificate: a Florida apostille from the Department of State in Tallahassee. Romania is a Hague member, so once the apostille is attached, no consulate or embassy step is needed on the U.S. side.

The part that causes rejections is the document itself: the state will only apostille a notarized copy — the registrar certifies or a Florida notary attests to the copy; original diplomas are never surrendered to the state. The state fee for this document type is $10 — included in our $220 either way — and our pre-filing review confirms your copy is in the right lane before it ever reaches the counter.

Order online from anywhere in the U.S.: we review your documents, then FedEx emails you a pre-paid QR code, your diploma rides to our Tallahassee team, gets walked in to the state counter in person, and comes back apostilled in 5–7 business days. Romania-side requirements like certified translation are done after — so the apostille certificate is covered too.

How a Florida diploma or transcript is used in Romania

This is occasional for Romania. Recognition of a foreign degree for work or further study goes through CNRED (the National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas). A University of Bucharest summary of the CNRED procedure accepts diplomas and transcripts in English without translation and doesn't list an apostille. So don't apostille a Florida degree for CNRED unless CNRED, a university or an employer actually asks. If one does, a public school or university record must be signed by the registrar before a notary with a complete notarial certificate before Florida can apostille it.

Translation for Romania

Our standard for a translation is a translator's certification, notarized by a different notary, with its own Florida apostille. Romanian civil-status offices instead expect the translation to be legalized in Romania by a public notary (from a translator authorized in Romania) or certified by a Romanian consular office; a translation made abroad before a foreign notary must itself carry an apostille. Ask the office receiving your file which version it accepts before you pay.
