Marriage certificates are the second-most-common document we apostille. The drivers are dual citizenship applications (Italian, Polish, Irish, Portuguese — where the marriage record proves the relationship in the line of descent), foreign spouse visas (sponsoring a foreign-citizen spouse for residency or naturalization), international real estate closings (where both spouses are on title to foreign property), and retirement-visa applications in countries like Portugal, Spain, and Mexico that grant residency to married couples as a unit.
Florida gives you two valid sources. The Clerk of Court in the county that issued your marriage license certifies a copy of the recorded license; the Bureau of Vital Statistics issues a one-page certificate signed by the State Registrar for marriages from June 6, 1927 on. Both can be apostilled. The Department of State charges $10 for the State Registrar's copy and $20 for a clerk-certified one — our price is the same either way. Church certificates, ceremony keepsakes and photocopies can't be apostilled.
Married in the last two months? Order from the clerk: a new license takes about 60 days to reach the state. Married before June 6, 1927? Only the clerk has it. We also ask for a copy certified in 2014 or later. Need a single-status affidavit for the same file? Add online notarization to your order. How to order a certified marriage certificate →
1. Pick the source. Ask the office abroad what it wants. If it doesn't say, the clerk's certified copy of the recorded license usually shows more of the original — officiant and witnesses — while the Bureau's certificate is the simpler, state-signed abstract. Order from the county that issued the license, which isn't always where the wedding took place.
2. Order the certified copy. Bureau of Vital Statistics: through VitalChek ($15 for the first copy plus a $7 processing fee), by mail on form DH261 ($5 plus $1 shipping), or in person at 1217 N. Pearl St., Jacksonville. Clerk of Court: search the county's official records, then ask for a certified copy for an apostille. For marriage licenses, a paper copy with the clerk's stamped certification is the safe choice — ask us before buying an electronic one.
3. Check it. Certified, signed and sealed; issued in 2014 or later; names spelled exactly as on the passports and birth certificates the foreign registry will compare it with. A typo has to be corrected by the clerk or the Bureau before the apostille, not after.
4. Send it for the apostille. Mailed in yourself, about five to seven weeks. With us, 5–7 business days, state fee included.

These are the most common reasons our customers need a Florida marriage certificate apostilled.
Sponsoring a foreign-citizen spouse for residency or naturalization in another country requires proof of the marriage. Apostilled marriage certificates are accepted by every Hague Convention country's immigration authority.
Italian citizenship by descent (jure sanguinis) requires apostilled marriage certificates in the line of descent. Citizenship by marriage (jure matrimonii) requires the spouses' own marriage certificate apostilled.
When both spouses are on title to property abroad (Mexico, Costa Rica, Italy, Spain), the foreign property registry typically requires an apostilled marriage certificate to record the joint ownership.
Updating your married name on foreign government records, banks, or property registries usually requires an apostilled marriage certificate as proof of the name change.
Some destination wedding countries require an apostilled prior marriage certificate (and divorce decree, if applicable) before issuing a new marriage license. Italy, Portugal, and several Caribbean nations require this.
Portugal's D7 visa, Spain's non-lucrative visa, Mexico's residency programs, and similar retirement tracks grant residency to married couples as a unit — but only with an apostilled marriage certificate proving the relationship.

By using myfloridaapostille.com or our apostille service, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before placing an order.
My Florida Apostille is an independent document service that facilitates apostille processing through the Florida Department of State on behalf of customers. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Florida Department of State, the U.S. Department of State, or any government agency. We are a private business providing convenience services.
You agree to:
Our standard turnaround is five to seven business days from the moment we receive your documents at our office. This timeline depends on third-party factors outside our control, including FedEx transit times and the Florida Department of State's processing schedule. We are not liable for delays caused by carriers, state offices, weather, holidays, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
If the Florida Department of State rejects your document, we will contact you within one business day to discuss options. Some rejections can be resolved same-day at the counter; others require new documents from the issuing agency. Rejections do not entitle you to a refund of the state filing fee or our service fee, because both the fee and the labor have been performed.
Documents shipped via FedEx are insured up to $100 by default. For irreplaceable documents, you may purchase additional FedEx Declared Value coverage when you hand your envelope to FedEx. We are not liable for loss or damage during transit beyond FedEx's published insurance coverage.
Payment is due at the time of order placement and is processed by Stripe. Refunds are governed by our separate Refund Policy.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to our services is limited to the amount you paid us for the order in question. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including but not limited to lost opportunities, missed deadlines, or visa application denials.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Leon County, Florida.
We may update these Terms at any time. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

We want every customer to be satisfied. Because our service involves third-party fees and irreversible work performed on your behalf, refunds depend on when you cancel.
To request a refund, contact us by:
Include your order number (from your confirmation email) and a brief explanation. We will respond within one business day.
Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days to the original payment method. Your bank or card issuer may take additional time to display the refund.
If your documents are damaged or lost in transit by FedEx, FedEx insurance applies (default $100, or up to the Declared Value coverage you purchased). We will work with you to file a FedEx claim. Our service fee is non-refundable in these cases because the loss occurred outside our control.
If you have questions about our refund policy before placing an order, please contact us — we'd rather answer questions upfront than handle refunds later.
