What we do for documents going to Thailand

Let's be straight with you: Thailand has acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention, but the Hague Conference status table shows it doesn't enter into force for Thailand until February 28, 2027. Until then, a Florida apostille won't be accepted there.

What a Florida document needs instead starts with a Florida Department of State authentication certificate, the non-Hague counterpart of an apostille. That's the part we handle. We review your document, file it in person in Tallahassee, and send it back to you in 5–7 business days. The price is the same as an apostille: $220 for one document, $380 for two, $160 each for three or more, with U.S. shipping included ($100 flat for international delivery).

What's changing: Thailand deposited its accession on June 30, 2026, and the Convention enters into force for Thailand on February 28, 2027, according to Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From that date, a Florida apostille should be all a Florida document needs for Thailand, with no U.S. Department of State step and no embassy step. Until then, the rules below apply.

The usual Florida rules apply: original certified copies of public records, original notarizations with a complete Florida notarial certificate, and school records notarized by the school when issued. Need something notarized first? Add online notarization to your order.

What happens next, until February 28, 2027

The Royal Thai Embassy in Washington lists Florida in its jurisdiction. Its published procedure requires state-level authentication (our step) and then U.S. Department of State authentication before the embassy will legalize a U.S. document. The embassy accepts these requests by mail, with a trackable return envelope.

We don't handle or arrange the U.S. Department of State authentication or the embassy legalization. Once we return your Florida-authenticated document, you continue directly with those offices.

If your deadline is close to February 2027

If your document will be presented in Thailand around the changeover, ask the receiving office which certificate it will accept on the date you present it. Also ask whether it needs a Thai translation and who may prepare it. If the answer is an apostille, it's the same price and timeline with us: $220 and 5–7 business days.
