How a Ocala apostille works.

There is no state apostille counter in Ocala or anywhere else in Marion County — only the Florida Department of State in Tallahassee issues them. We hand-carry every Ocala order there and get it back to you in five to seven business days, instead of the five to seven weeks a mailed-in request usually takes.

Most Ocala orders start with a Marion County record: birth and death certificates from the Florida Department of Health in Marion County, and marriage licenses, divorce decrees and court records from the Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller. Anything signed in front of a Florida notary — a power of attorney, an affidavit, a single-status letter, a translation — can be apostilled as well. Diplomas and transcripts from the College of Central Florida qualify too, once the registrar's office has signed them in front of a notary.

Our nearest appointment office, Clearwater, is about 105 miles away, so almost every Ocala customer orders online — the documents travel by FedEx both ways and nothing about the service changes.

What Ocala customers apostille most.

Family records for Latin America

Birth, marriage and divorce records for Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil are everyday Ocala orders. Puerto Rico records are the exception: those are apostilled by Puerto Rico's own Department of State, not Florida's.

Business & Sunbiz filings

Articles of incorporation, certificates of status and notarized corporate resolutions for opening a foreign bank account or registering a subsidiary abroad.

Diplomas & transcripts

Graduates of the College of Central Florida apostille diplomas and transcripts for graduate school, teaching jobs and credential evaluations abroad.

Common questions.

Not a state one. Florida apostilles are issued only by the Florida Department of State in Tallahassee, so no office in Marion County can issue one. You order online, drop your envelope at a Ocala FedEx, and we file it in person in Tallahassee.
Birth and death certificates: the Florida Department of Health in Marion County, the Florida Bureau of Vital Statistics in Jacksonville, or VitalChek — the state fee for these is $10. Marriage licenses, divorce decrees, court records and deeds: the Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller — $20 state fee for a clerk-certified copy, or $10 for a marriage certificate ordered from Vital Statistics. Both fees are included in our $220. We don't accept vital records certified before 2014: the signature on file at the Department of State must be the current registrar's, so an older copy needs to be re-ordered first.
Yes. Ask the registrar's office for a diploma copy or transcript signed by a school official in front of a Florida notary, "for apostille". That notarized document is what the Department of State apostilles — a plain copy or an outside notary's copy certification is rejected.
$220 per document, state fee and U.S. return shipping included — the same online or by appointment. Full cost breakdown →
Yes — Apopka, Clermont and Winter Garden order exactly the way Ocala does: online, $220 per document, back in 5–7 business days.
