Marriage Certificate apostille for China.

Sending a Florida marriage certificate to China — typically for work visas, marriage registration, and business documents — takes exactly one certificate: a Florida apostille from the Department of State in Tallahassee. China is a Hague member, so once the apostille is attached, no consulate or embassy step is needed on the U.S. side.

The part that causes rejections is the document itself: the state will only apostille a certified copy from the Clerk of Court in the county that issued the license, or from the state Bureau of Vital Statistics. The state fee for this document type is $10–$20 depending on the certifying office — included in our $220 either way — and our pre-filing review confirms your copy is in the right lane before it ever reaches the counter.

Order online from anywhere in the U.S.: we review your documents, then FedEx emails you a pre-paid QR code, your marriage certificate rides to our Tallahassee team, gets walked in to the state counter in person, and comes back apostilled in 5–7 business days. China-side requirements like certified translation are done after — so the apostille certificate is covered too.

How a Florida marriage certificate is used in China

A Florida marriage certificate goes to China mostly for family-based residence: a foreign spouse of a Chinese citizen, or of a foreigner working in China, applying through the local public security bureau's exit-entry office. Since November 7, 2023, the Florida apostille replaces the old chain of state, federal and Chinese consular authentication. Chinese offices want a full Chinese translation from an accredited translation agency, including the apostille, with the agency's seal. Bring a certificate signed by the State Registrar or a County Court Clerk, certified in 2014 or later.

Translation for China

China generally requires a full Chinese translation sealed by a translation agency, often one registered in China, or by the employer for work-permit files. A Florida translation, even certified, notarized and apostilled, may not be accepted, so ask the Chinese office first.
