Notarized Document apostille for India.

Sending a Florida notarized document to India — typically for OCI applications, marriage registration, and employment — takes exactly one certificate: a Florida apostille from the Department of State in Tallahassee. India is a Hague member, so once the apostille is attached, no consulate or embassy step is needed on the U.S. side.

The part that causes rejections is the document itself: the state will only apostille notarization by a currently-commissioned Florida notary — in person at our offices, or by Florida remote online notarization from anywhere. The state fee for this document type is $10 — included in our $220 either way — and our pre-filing review confirms your copy is in the right lane before it ever reaches the counter.

Order online from anywhere in the U.S.: we review your documents, then FedEx emails you a pre-paid QR code, your notarized document rides to our Tallahassee team, gets walked in to the state counter in person, and comes back apostilled in 5–7 business days. India-side requirements like certified translation are done after — so the apostille certificate is covered too.

How a Florida notarized document is used in India

Indian offices see a lot of U.S.-notarized documents: undertakings, consent forms, declarations and authorizations for relatives in India. India's MEA says a document apostilled by a member country needs no further attestation, and the Consulate General of India in Atlanta, which serves Florida, says no consulate certification is required after a U.S. apostille. What Indian offices do check is that the Florida notarial certificate is complete, the stamp is legible, and the names match the passport exactly, including middle names and initials Indian records often abbreviate.

Translation for India

Florida documents are in English, which Indian authorities use, so translation is rarely needed. When a document is in another language, our rule applies: a translation certified by the translator, notarized by a different notary and apostilled in Florida. The OCI FAQ asks for an authorized English translation only for certificates not in English.
