Birth Certificate apostille for Peru.

Sending a Florida birth certificate to Peru — typically for dual citizenship, property powers of attorney — takes exactly one certificate: a Florida apostille from the Department of State in Tallahassee. Peru is a Hague member, so once the apostille is attached, no consulate or embassy step is needed on the U.S. side.

The part that causes rejections is the document itself: the state will only apostille a certified copy from the Florida Bureau of Vital Statistics (or the county where the birth was recorded) — hospital keepsakes and plain photocopies are rejected. The state fee for this document type is $10 — included in our $220 either way — and our pre-filing review confirms your copy is in the right lane before it ever reaches the counter.

Order online from anywhere in the U.S.: we review your documents, then FedEx emails you a pre-paid QR code, your birth certificate rides to our Tallahassee team, gets walked in to the state counter in person, and comes back apostilled in 5–7 business days. Peru-side requirements like certified translation are done after — so the apostille certificate is covered too.

How a Florida birth certificate is used in Peru

A child born in Florida to a Peruvian parent is normally registered at the consulate while the child is a minor living abroad. If the family moves to Peru without doing that, RENIEC can register the birth before the child turns 18, using the original Florida birth certificate, apostilled and translated into Spanish through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After 18, RENIEC says the route becomes a Peruvian-nationality option through Migraciones. So don't wait. We only file copies certified in 2014 or later and signed by the current State Registrar.

Translation for Peru

Our standard for a translation is a translator's certification, notarized by a different notary, with its own Florida apostille. Peruvian offices may instead require their own translator: SUNARP asks for a translation by a traductor público juramentado (sworn public translator), RENIEC refers to translation through Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and SUNEDU asks for an official certified translation. Ask the office that will receive your document which one it accepts, and translate after the apostille.
